About Us

What is this?

This Month in SEL is a monthly email newsletter that curates the latest articles, policy updates, case studies, and resources from the field of social-emotional learning (and, more broadly, education). For a sample of what our content will look (and sound) like, here are some of our previous publications.

Who is this for?

Anyone who is remotely curious about what’s happening in the world of social-emotional learning. Our community includes educators, administrators, my mother, researchers, parents, students, and ed-tech aficionados. We know that “social-emotional learning” is one of the most over-used and buzz-wordy terms in education right now; our goal is to cut through all the noise and focus on bringing you the most relevant content each month.

Who are you?

I am a second-year graduate student pursuing my master’s in Child Studies and Human Development at Tufts University. My research interests include social-emotional learning, ed-tech, children’s media, public policy, media literacy education, instructional design, and venture capital.

In 2018, I started a blog — Inside SEL  to help deepen my knowledge of social-emotional learning and share SEL-related news with a wider audience. That blog now proudly employs a team of talented contributors who help produce content for this newsletter.

Why did you decide to start this?

When I started looking for news websites and blogs to follow so that I could learn more about social-emotional learning and get the latest news, I could not find a single outlet that provided curated content across multiple sources that was specifically focused on SEL.

How often will this come out?

We publish the newsletter once a month, every month. Expect it in your inbox towards the end of each month, so that you can get caught up on all of the top headlines from the previous ~30 days.

Join our community.

We hope that you join us and find value in what we send.

Whoever you are: Thanks, as always, for reading.
